Why we chose this coffee

Atitlán is a region we turn to when we want balance with a softer edge.

We rotate this coffee through for drip in the café because it’s steady, rounded, and easy to drink — a cup that feels complete without demanding too much attention.

Roasted at origin in Guatemala and sourced from the Atitlán region, this coffee is shaped by volcanic soil and lake-side growing conditions that lend it structure, sweetness, and calm clarity.

Atitlán

Atitlán's story

Grown in the highlands surrounding Lake Atitlán, this region is known for its rich volcanic soil and steady climate. Certified SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) and Rainforest Alliance, this coffee reflects both exceptional quality and responsible farming practices.

These conditions produce coffees that are balanced and expressive without being sharp — which is why we rotate Atitlán through for drip in the café when we want something comforting, consistent, and quietly complex.

Lake Atitlán has always been one of my favorite places in Guatemala — and this coffee carries some of that calm with it.

How we like to drink it

We brew this coffee as drip in the café.

It’s a great everyday cup — smooth enough to enjoy black, balanced enough to return to throughout the day. At home, it also works well as pour-over if you prefer a gentler, more rounded profile.

Growing up, this is the coffee we drank in my house. We made esencia with it — and we still do.
